I had helped them with all-inclusive resort vacations in the past, but they really wanted to explore the four major islands of Hawaii. This package required coordinating trans-Pacific flights, hotels, rental cars, airport shuttles, and inter-island flights. Here are Megan’s thoughts of their trip:

We loved Hawaii. We enjoyed getting to see all the islands but if we ever go back we’ll focus on 1-2. This first time we wanted to see everything as we never know if we’ll get back.

Kauai – The Aqua Kauai Beach resort was nice but not close to many restaurants and it was about $20 taxi each way to go into town. Our resort was nicely located for the activities we had scheduled though. Next time I think we’ll try the Poipu area. We would recommend Pietro’s Pizza at Kalapaki Beach. We also liked The Dolphin restaurant near Hanalei Bay.

Maui – The Kahana Villa was way bigger than we needed but we loved the fact it had a washer and dryer. It was a little short of being half way through our trip and being able to do a load or two of laundry was amazing. It was a little hard to check in if you were on the go. Lahaina was a really cool area to eat and hang out. We really liked the Cool Cat Cafe. Kapalua Beach had great snorkeling!

Big Island – this ended up being our favorite due to the activities. I wouldn’t recommend the Big Island for beach time but it’s great for things like Swimming with Dolphins or Manta Rays, Helicopter tour of the volcano, etc. We also loved the Sheraton Kona Resort. We would recommend eating at Kona Brewing Company and Holy Donuts. We were disappointed in the snorkeling at Captain Cook Monument (Kealakekua Bay). There wasn’t that much sea life and there were so many people someone was always running into you.

Oahu – this was our least favorite island as it was so busy. Waikiki beach was pretty amazing and you didn’t have the huge waves rolling in like you did on other islands. We did a luau at the Hilton which was pretty cool. Our hotel, Aqua Oasis, was nicely located and allowed us to walk several places. It too was much larger than needed with a full kitchen. Our last day we did Pearl Harbor. Wow is there a lot to see. If you are a history buff or truly interested in this, I would almost recommend two days. It’s a lot of walking. We would recommend Teddy’s Bigger Burgers!

We didn’t have any issues with flights, which considering how many we had is pretty amazing. Small, cheap breakfasts are hard to come by. Most place offer $20+ buffets but we were just looking for something light. If we were staying on one island for an extended time we would have found a Wal-mart or grocery store.

Overall, our Hawaii trip was much different than our normal Mexico trip but we were expecting that as we planned it that way. If we went again we would be able to relax more after seeing several of the main sites. Not sure where our next trip will take us but we look forward to working with you in the future.

My clients Megan and Jason contacted me to arrange a multi-island trip to Hawaii.
