I&#8217;ve only visited the island on cruises, and I really wanted more time to explore. We&#8217;re staying at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palaceresorts.com\/cozumelpalace\/en\">Cozumel Palace<\/a>,\u00a0an all-inclusive resort on the western coast. We flew into Cancun, took a private car to Playa del Carmen, the ferry to Cozumel, and finally a taxi to the resort. We could have flown directly into Cozumel, but flights into Cancun were more affordable.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.palaceresorts.com\/cozumelpalace\/en\">Cozumel Palace<\/a> is gorgeous &#8211; it is close to downtown, oceanfront, and within walking distance of shopping. Cozumel is known for its diving and has the world&#8217;s second longest barrier reef after Australia&#8217;s Great Barrier Reef. Many of the resorts do not have beaches &#8211; they are oceanfront with direct access to the ocean by steps or piers. Cozumel has a private pier where many dive boats will pick you up and several ladders directly into the ocean.
