I’ve been reading about how much history and culture Malta has, so I decided on this Mediterranean island nation for my next adventure. After stopping in Detroit and Paris, we arrived in Malta this afternoon. I chose our hotel Palazzo Consiglia<\/a> based on their beautiful rooms and great location in the heart of Valletta. I would have loved to use the rooftop pool, but at 70 degrees it’s just a little too chilly to swim outside. The indoor pool and steam room were amazing.<\/p>\n

We grabbed some lunch at Is-Suq tal-Belt, Valletta’s Covered Market. It was less than a five minute walk from the hotel and offered pizza, pasta, salads, sushi, gelato, hamburgers, and a grill. We then explored St. John’s Co-Cathedral, one of Malta’s most famous sites. The Baroque architecture and painting by Caravaggio attract people from around the world. St. John and the Order of the Knights of St. John played a very important role in Malta’s history. Famous knights are entombed in the floor of the cathedral, and the inscriptions on the marble tombs are gorgeous.<\/p>\n
