Walking out of Amsterdam Centraal Station the first time was very overwhelming – buses, trams, canal boats, bicycles, and cars all converge in front of the station. We headed to the Visitor Center in front of the station for directions to the Van Gogh Museum. We hopped on a tram, which was easy to find and use. Lines can be long for major attractions in Europe, especially in the summer, so I had pre-reserved an entry time to the Van Gogh Museum. I highly recommend purchasing tickets online before leaving home.
The Van Gogh Museum was nice but not amazing. They had an large collection of self-portraits that he had painted in his later years, but my favorite Van Gogh works such as Starry Night are missing. We walked from the museum back to Centraal Station and enjoyed the canals and parks.
