Jerez and Seville, Spain April 29, 2024
We spent last night in Jerez at the Royal Andalusian School for Equestrian Arts, where they train the famous Andalusian horses. The grounds of the school were beautiful. Today we explored Setas de Seville, Plaza Espana, and the Cathedral in Seville. On to the Italian Riviera tomorrow!
Ronda, Spain April 28, 2024
We drove to Ronda, the most famous Pueblo Blanco in Andalucia. There are many photos of their famous bridge at the top of the gorge. We drove down a crazy narrow and steep road to the bottom of the gorge – we weren’t sure if the rental car was going to make it back up … Continue reading
Arcos de la Frontera, Spain April 27, 2024
We’re in Arcos de la Frontera, one of Andalucia’s Pueblos Blancos (White Villages). Our apartment was a former pub, and the view across the valley from the two balconies is gorgeous. We’re attending the MotoGP race in Jerez, one of the most attended races in the series, and ADLF is the perfect base for sightseeing … Continue reading
Cadiz, Spain November 8, 2022
We boarded Holland America’s Oosterdam yesterday in Malaga and arrived in Cadiz this morning. We explored Old Town on foot, watched surfers in the afternoon sun, and shopped at El Corte Ingles.
Valencia, Spain 11.7.2013
We flew from Marrakech to Madrid today and then took the AVE high speed train from Madrid to Valencia. The train is definitely cheaper with more advance purchase. I had checked prices before we left the US, but the price at the counter was much higher. We’re in Valencia to watch the MotoGP race this … Continue reading
September 17, 2011 Morella, Spain
We were up before the sun today, driving to the MotoGP track in Alcaniz. We visited Morella, an ancient walled city on a hilltop. The old town is surrounded by 1.5 miles of stone walls with 7 huge gates.
September 16, 2011 Aragon, Spain
We’re driving from Barcelona to the Aragon region of Spain. The views are beautiful – the Mediterranean on the left and rolling hills on the right. We’re staying in an apartment in Cati surrounded by beautiful churches and countryside.
Travel Insurance
It seems my clients are divided into separate camps when it comes to trip insurance. They either ask me about it before I even mention it, they consider it carefully, or decline firmly when I offer. However, I want clients to realize that they’ve made an investment and it should be protected. I have to admit, at first glance travel … Continue reading
June 13, 2007 Random thoughts about Barcelona
Public nudity is legal in Barcelona. We witnessed a man walking down the street with nothing but a hat and shoes. He chatted with the police and seemed to know most locals. We saw an Iowa State Cyclones t-shirt in a clothing store Barcelona. While I love ISU, I’m not sure why Spaniards would care … Continue reading
June 12, 2007 Barcelona, Spain
We took an overnight train from Florence to Barcelona. It was a lot of fun, but I wouldn’t want to do it very often. Our private compartment was the right size for two people, but it was kind of small once we got our luggage, too. I thought I would sleep really well but I … Continue reading
