Robin Williams filmed the movie Popeye in Malta in 1980. The set builders created a small fishing village on the northern coast near the ferry pier to Gozo. Traditionally, sets will be destroyed upon completion of a movie but the set was dedicated to the people of Malta. It’s now an open air museum with character interaction, a boat ride around the bay, a documentary, sun beds, and food service.
