Xcaret Parks, Mexico April 19, 2022
We flew from Guadalajara to Cancun this afternoon on Viva, a low-cost Mexican airline. While Guadalajara was warm and dry, Cancun is hot and humid! I’ve traveled to Mexico several times and have seen billboards and ads for Xcaret Parks. I really wanted to visit the parks and found that if you stay at one … Continue reading
Guadalajara, Mexico April 18, 2022
We drove to Lake Chapala, about an hour south of Guadalajara today. Guadalajara is the home of mariachis and tequila, and there were agave fields lining the roads. We had lunch at a lake-front restaurant with mariachis and drinks and dessert at the beautiful spa resort Hotel Monte Coxala.

I’m so excited to travel again – this is our first international trip post-Covid! We’re in Guadalajara to visit friends that we met on a Mediterranean cruise 11 years ago. During that cruise, we met people from Ireland and Canada (who we’ve already visited), and we were overdue to visit our friends from Mexico. It’s … Continue reading
Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Iceland June 24, 2019
Today was the only day I’ve actually been cold! Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell Glacier were really windy. Diamond Beach had beautiful iceberg chunks and seals.
Southern Coast, Iceland June 23, 2019
We started our day at Secret Lagoon hot springs in Fludir. Most people travel to the Blue Lagoon when traveling to Iceland, but I wanted to go somewhere less commercial and off the beaten path. It’s great for children – the deepest part was 4 feet and they had free noodles and life jackets. We … Continue reading

Our driving itinerary today includes several of Iceland’s most famous sites – Geysir Geothermal Area, Gullfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir National Park. These three sites are commonly called Iceland’s Golden Circle. Many people tour this area as a day trip out of Iceland, but we left the Snaefellsnes Peninsula this morning and are staying at a … Continue reading
Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Iceland June 21, 2019
We drove from Reykjavik to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula today. Our first stop was the Gerduberg Basalt Columns. When we first saw them from the road, my family was underwhelmed but we had fun hiking and climbing around the columns. The drive from Reykjavik took about an hour and 45 minutes. Another 45 minutes down the … Continue reading
Reykjavik, Iceland June 20, 2019
When I discovered non-stop flights from Minneapolis to Iceland for under $450 this summer, I decided to plan a family vacation. I’ve sent several clients who have stayed for a few nights on their way to or from other countries in Europe. They raved about the black sand beaches, waterfalls, glaciers, and beautiful landscapes. My … Continue reading
Cefalu, Sicily November 17, 2018
We’re spending our last night in Sicily in the seaside village of Cefalu. It’s Friday night and the town is very busy with people strolling, shopping, and socializing. I’ve seen many gorgeous pictures of Cefalu and our photos turned out just as good!
